Gulf Air Orders 12 Boeing 787 Dreamliners to Boost Global Expansion
Gulf Air, the national airline of Bahrain, has confirmed an order for 12 Boeing 787 Dreamliners, with the option to purchase six more. This move supports the airline’s plan to expand its international network and modernise its fleet.
Once finalised, the deal will increase Gulf Air’s total number of firm 787 orders to 14 aircraft. According to Boeing, this agreement will also help support around 30,000 jobs in the United States.
Khalid Taqi, Chairman of Gulf Air Group, said:
“This agreement is a major milestone in Gulf Air’s growth. It strengthens our global presence and brings the latest technology to our fleet. The Boeing 787 Dreamliner has delivered excellent performance on our long-haul routes.”
Gulf Air already operates 10 Dreamliners, serving over 50 destinations worldwide. With this new order, the airline aims to grow its reach across Asia, Europe, and North America.
Boeing also welcomed the agreement. Stephanie Pope, President and CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, said:
“We’re proud to continue our 60-year partnership with Gulf Air. The 787 Dreamliner is the ideal aircraft to support their growth and connect more travellers across the globe.”
Gulf Air’s history with Boeing dates back to 1961, when it received its first DC-3 aircraft. Since then, the airline has added 37 Boeing planes to its fleet, including the advanced 787 models currently in service.
